Celebrating empowerment: Build ½ Lead initiative at Build38

On Monday, July 1st, the women team members at Build38 gathered for an inspiring session as part of our ongoing Build ½ Lead Initiative. This program creates a dedicated space for sharing ideas, news, and strategies to make a positive impact in the tech world.

Build ½ Lead meetings

Our recurrent meetings are designed to foster a supportive and collaborative environment where we can:

  • Share ideas and news: We exchange articles, insights, and experiences that inspire and inform our community. From technological breakthroughs and personal success stories to career development tips.

  • Foster mentorship and networking: These meetings provide opportunities to build meaningful professional relationships to help you connect and grow.

  • Generate new ideas: We encourage everyone to come forward with new ideas that we can explore and develop as a team at Build38.

New ideas from last monday’s meeting

During the latest meeting, discussions included:

  • Holistic Alignment: Foster initiatives from grassroots to leadership, participate in Women4Cyber and CyberGirls events, and encourage involvement in the wider women-in-tech ecosystem.

  • Quarterly Project Leadership: Rotate project leadership roles quarterly to develop diverse leadership skills and set clear, actionable goals aligned with diversity objectives.

Boost Engagement: Participate in educational programs and workshops, partner with schools, universities, and non-profits, develop internal mentorship programs, celebrate achievements, and provide leadership opportunities for women.

The vision behind Build ½ Lead

Build ½ Lead (pronounced “Build to Lead”) was created to address the underrepresentation of women in the tech industry. With women making up only 20% of the computing and engineering workforce, Build38 aims to break cultural norms and encourage more women to pursue careers in technology.

The program emphasises the importance of visibility and female role models, striving to create an equitable environment for all professional women in the sector. A significant part of this initiative involves letting young women know they have a future in tech. We actively participate with Women4Cyber, promoting the role of women in cybersecurity and encouraging gender diversity in the sector. Through mentorship and representation, we aim to show that gender or identity should never be an impediment to professional success.

Build38 offers continuous support and collaboration

Build38 is committed to fostering a supportive and collaborative community. Programs like Build ½ Lead demonstrate our dedication to creating spaces where everyone can contribute, grow, and succeed.  For more details about this initiative visit the Build38’s blog and you would like to be part of our team visit our jobs portal.
